About us

I’m not a native of Pastviny, but Pastviny and the reservoir have always been somewhat of a matter of the heart for me. When the opportunity arose to buy a cottage with a garden here, practically right by the reservoir, we knew we couldn’t let it slip away… well, alright, I can’t really say “we”—it was more my wish. My husband wasn’t exactly thrilled about it.

The cottage itself had a bit of a turbulent history, and so, in memory of the original owner, they kept the working name “Cihlářka” after his long-standing nickname… and it stuck. So, with that, welcome to the website of the Cihlářka cottage.

We renovated the cottage over the course of more than two years, with the help of a few friends and acquaintances, but mostly on our own. There are still plenty of things I’d like to improve or fine-tune, as is typical for my perpetually dissatisfied zodiac sign, but I dare say that even now, it’s a great place for a family vacation or a weekend gathering with friends… it all depends on who you want to spend your time with in the Orlické Mountains. We’ll provide tips for trips—and there are plenty of them! In the immediate surroundings, there are lots of opportunities for walks, whether on paths or off the beaten track. You can hop on a bike—and I can recommend some routes since I’m an enthusiastic cyclist. You can let a boat carry you downstream or paddle upstream to give your muscles a bit of a workout and boost your fitness. Tired and hungry, you can recharge at nearby pubs… and if not, we can offer our lamb meat, which we’d be happy to prepare on the grill.

The Orlické Mountains might surprise you with a number of magical spots where you won’t encounter a single soul, but you’ll also find plenty of places where you might have to jostle with others… it depends on what you’re looking for. Above all, it depends on whether you’ll allow our accommodation to be the perfect base for you.
